Available on iOS and Android. Search for "Islamic Events Melbourne" in the App Store or Google Play and install it for free.
Grant location permission when prompted. This lets the app show mosques and prayer times near you, personalised to your suburb.
Explore upcoming Jummah prayers, lectures, iftars, and community events. Browse the mosque directory for South East, West, and North Melbourne.
Tap the + button to add your own community event. Fill in the details, set a category, and it will appear for the whole community to see.
Open the app and you'll see the Home screen with all upcoming events listed. You can filter events by category using the chip buttons at the top — choose from Jummah, Lecture, Iftar, Eid, Community, Charity, Prayer, or view All at once. Tap any event card to see full details including venue, time, and directions.
Tap the ➕ icon in the top-right corner of the Home screen (or the Create tab in the navigation bar). Fill in the required fields:
Once submitted, the event will appear in the community feed immediately.
Recurring events repeat on a schedule — daily, weekly, or monthly. For example, Jummah prayers happen every Friday, so they are marked as weekly recurring. When creating an event, toggle the "Recurring" checkbox and choose your pattern. Recurring events show a 🔁 badge on their card so the community knows they happen regularly.
Yes. Open the event details page by tapping any event card. You'll see a 🔔 Reminder button. Tap it and grant notification permissions when prompted. The app will send you a push notification before the event starts so you never miss it. You can manage all your reminders in your device's notification settings.
Tap the 📍 icon on the Home screen or the Mosques tab in the navigation. The Mosque Directory is organised into three Melbourne regions:
Tap a region to see all mosques with their address, phone number, and live prayer times.
On any mosque's listing page, tap the 🗺️ Directions button. This will open your device's default maps app (Apple Maps on iOS, Google Maps on Android) with the mosque pre-loaded as the destination. You can also use the GPS Nearby feature to find the closest mosques to your current location.
We welcome community contributions! Use the Contact Us form below and select "Mosque Suggestion" as the topic. Include the mosque name, full address, phone number, and the Melbourne region it belongs to. Our team will review and add it to the directory within a few days.
Prayer times are sourced live from the Aladhan Prayer Times API, a trusted Islamic prayer times service. Times are calculated based on the mosque's exact GPS coordinates and the current date, using the standard calculation method. They update automatically each day — you don't need to do anything to keep them current.
Prayer times vary slightly between mosques because they are calculated based on each mosque's precise latitude and longitude. A mosque in Dandenong and one in Brunswick are geographically different, so their prayer times can differ by a few minutes. This is normal and reflects the sun's exact position relative to each location.
Select the "Prayer" category from the Home screen filter chips. The app uses your GPS location to find all mosques within 10 km of you. Each mosque card shows the next upcoming prayer, distance in kilometres, and a full prayer timetable. Tap a card to expand it and see directions or call the mosque.
Location access is used to show you nearby mosques and personalise event listings. Your location is never stored on our servers — it is only used in the moment to query the API and is not shared with any third parties. You can deny location access and the app will default to Melbourne CBD coordinates, though the nearby features will be less accurate.
Notifications are requested the first time you set an event reminder. To manage notifications go to your device Settings → Notifications → Islamic Events Melbourne. You can allow or block all notifications, or choose specific alert types. Individual event reminders can be cancelled from within the app on the event's detail page.
Try these steps in order:
Prayer times come from the Aladhan API and require an internet connection to load. If they show as unavailable: check your connection, try refreshing the mosque page, or check the App Status below to see if the Aladhan API is experiencing issues. In rare cases, the API may be temporarily unavailable — this usually resolves within a few minutes.
